Backyardigans Beanbag Toss Game

For an easy outdoor--or indoor game--create a beanbag toss. The Backyardigans theme is suitable for a themed birthday party or for everyday fun.

Materials

• For the game board:
• 2 large foam core boards
• Craft knife
• Beanbag Toss Game Board Template
• Construction paper in green, aqua, blue and red
• Pencil
• Glue stick
• Red electrical tape
• Green string, yarn, or plastic cord
• For the beanbags:
• Backyardigans Character Beanbags Templates
• Light pink, dark pink, white, and black felt for Uniqua
• Blue, white, black, yellow, and red felt for Pablo
• Yellow, black, white, and orange felt for Tasha
• Dry beans (about 1 1/2 bags)
• Heavy-duty fabric glue
• Scissors

Directions

1. Step 1

   For the game board: Trace a large circular object, such as a pot lid, in three places on one of the foam core boards. Cut out the holes with a craft knife.

2. Step 2

   Print the petal templates. For each flower, cut two green, two aqua, and two blue petals. Apply the petals with a glue stick.

3. Step 3

   Print the templates and cut out the numbers 1, 2, and 3. With glue stick, apply to the board.

4. Step 4

   Lay the completed board on top of the plain board. Cut 2-inch strips of red tape and apply to the top of the boards, joining them to create "hinges."

5. Step 5

   With the tip of the craft knife poke a hole about 10 inches down from the top and 1 inch in from the side on the left side of the front board. Repeat on the right side. Do the same on the backboard. Knot the cord or string and thread it through one hole on the front board and out the hole on backboard. Knot to secure. Repeat on the opposite side. This will keep the board from splaying when beanbags hit it.

6. Step 6

   For the beanbags: Print and cut out the templates. For Pablo, cut two blue ovals. Cut out the yellow beak, black and white eyes, and hat pieces. Glue the facial features to the blue oval. Let dry. Apply glue to the circumference of the bottom oval leaving a 1-inch opening so you can add the beans; lay the oval with Pablo's face on top of the glued oval. Let dry. Then fill about three-quarters full with beans. Glue opening closed. For Tasha, cut two yellow ovals. Cut out the eyes and mouth, and cut out the ear pieces. Glue the ear pieces to the inside edge of the one oval. Then glue the facial features to the other oval. Apply glue to the circumference of the oval with the ear pieces, leaving a 1-inch opening so you can add the beans. Lower the oval with the face over the oval with the ears. Let dry. Fill, as with Pablo, with beans. Glue opening closed. For Uniqua, cut out two pink ovals and three dark pink dots. Cut out the eye and mouth pieces. Glue the facial features to one oval. Apply glue to the circumference of the other oval, leaving a 1-inch opening for the beans. Lay the oval with the face on the bottom oval. Let dry. Fill with beans. Glue opening closed.
