Materials

Directions

  1. Step 1: Make Bot's Body

Print the Bot Door Hanger Greeter Printables onto heavy-weight paper and allow the ink to dry before cutting out the images.

For a sturdier door greeter, paste the printables onto a piece of cardboard (like a recycled cereal box panel) before cutting out the images.

Once you've finished cutting out the hands and feet, fold each printable cutout along the dark line, and glue together.

Help your child choose the message you both want to display on Bot's belly screen and help glue it onto the image of Bot's blank belly screen. Set aside to dry. (You can also have your child create her own message or draw a picture on the blank screen).

  2. Step 2: Make Bot's Arms & Legs

Cut the green construction paper into eight strips of equal size (approx. 11" x 1/4"). (If you'd prefer longer legs and arms for Bot, cut longer strips of paper or glue strips of paper together.) For each arm and leg: take two paper strips and glue the ends together to form a right angle (an L shape). When the glue drys, fold the bottom strip over the top one and then alternate, continuing to fold the bottom paper strip over the top paper strip until the entire length of paper has been folded accordion-style. Glue the remaining two open ends of the strip together.

Glue the hand and feet printable pieces onto the end of each arm and leg. Glue the other end onto the printable cutout of Bot's body to complete the arms and legs (see our photo for reference).

  3. Step 3: Greet Your Guests!

To make Bot into a door hanger, glue the printable hands together, then allow time for the door greeter to dry before hanging it. You can also make an over-sized greeting card out of Bot by gluing the body to a construction paper background, carefully collapsing the accordion arms and legs, and sliding into an over-sized envelope.

Tip: Instead of using green construction paper to create Bot's arms and legs, try using stiff felt sheets like we did with our Bot Door Greeter!
