Little Fish Shaker

Make a maraca inspired by the Little Fish in the Bubble Guppies episodes. All you need is a water bottle ready for recycling, a few supplies like colorful beads and paint, and your preschooler's imagination--and, groovy moves, of course.

Materials

• Little Fish Shaker Template
• Safety scissors
• Empty, small water bottle
• Orange craft paint
• Paint brush
• Orange beads (we used pony beads)
• Orange foamie sheet or construction paper
• Black felt or construction paper
• Clear-drying glue

Directions

1. Step 1

   Print the Little Fish Shaker Template and cut out the pieces.

2. Step 2

   Remove the lid of the water bottle and paint it orange. Set aside to dry.<br><br> Fill the bottle with orange beads, but be sure not to fill the bottle all the way. You will need to leave a little room for the beads to move when rattled.<br><br> Replace the lid on the bottle.

3. Step 3

   Trace the template pieces onto the orange foamie sheet or construction paper, and the eyes onto the black felt or construction paper, and then cut out the pieces.<br><br> Using the photo as a guide, glue the pieces onto the water bottle.<br><br> For the tail piece, snip along the indicated line; fold the tail above and below the tail piece and glue it to the bottom of the bottle. Let dry.
