Bubble Guppies Ocean Puppet Theater

Make waves and a mini motion picture with your Guppies fan, when you put together this super simple puppet theater! Print our templates to get the show started.

Materials

• Bubble Guppies Ocean Theater Printables
• Bubble Guppies Puppets
• Safety scissors
• Shoe box (grown-up size with attached lid is recommended)
• Construction paper (optional)
• Glue stick or tape
• Craft sticks (or Popsicle sticks, pencils, chopsticks)

Directions

1. Step 1

   Print out Bubble Guppies Ocean Theater Printables and Puppets.

2. Step 2

   Parents: Using scissors or a craft knife, cut off the bottom of the shoe box. Stand the box on its side (see photo for reference). If the shoe box has a lid, the lid should lie flat on the surface.<br><br> Using the craft knife or scissor, cut two (2-inch-long) slits on each side of the box about an inch away from the edge of the box. The theater's pull tabs for the waves will be inserted into these slits.

3. Step 3

   Help your child cut out the pieces to create the theater by following the dotted lines. The printable beach sand will be used to cover the shoe box lid.<br><br> For a more finished look, use construction paper to cover the top and sides of the box. We used blue paper to cover the inside of the box!

4. Step 4

   Cut the strips included with the ocean waves printable, and attach one to each end of the waves. Once attached, insert these tabs into the slits created in Step 2. Pull one tab and then the other to make the waves move left to right!<br><br> Decorate the box using the sun, additional waves, and palm trees (fold along the solid line to create a base for the printable tree to stand on its own). Cover the lid using the sand printable.

5. Step 5

   Glue or tape the characters to craft sticks (or Popsicle sticks, pencils, or chopsticks). Now your child has puppets and can put on a show in the shoe box theater!

6. Step 6 (Optional)

   A fun way for your child to prop up the puppets is to use an egg carton. To do this, cut the lid off an egg carton then cut the carton lengthwise into two long 6-cup rows. Turn all the egg cup sections upside down so the open ends are faced down. Cut a small slit in the top of each egg cup, wide enough to fit the Popsicle stick, pencils, or chopsticks. Then slide the puppet into the slit. Now you've got standing puppets!
