Coffee Filter Snowflakes

Your child can transform everyday coffee filters into cheerful colorful snowflakes with this easy winter craft. It's so easy--and beautiful!

You'll need to allow extra time for glue or paint to dry.

Ages: 3-6

Materials

Round coffee filters
Kids markers
Scissors
Spray bottle or cup of water

Directions

Color the Filters
Have your child color a design on a round coffee filter with markers (best if using bright colors, not black or brown).
Sprinkle Water on the Filters
Have your child get the filters wet by spraying with water, flicking drops of water on them--wet them any way to make the colors run.
Let Dry and Fold
Set the filters aside to dry and then fold them in half at least three times.
Cut Out Shapes
Help your child cut out shapes then unfold to see the snowflake design. Talk about how each design is different--just like real snowflakes! You can hang them in a window for a snowy decoration.

Tip: If you want white snowflakes, just skip the coloring and water steps.
