Dora Rocks Board Game

There's a big party at Benny's barn and everyone's invited! Help Dora and a few of her friends find their way to the party in this preschool-friendly version of a classic board game. Game board, die, and character pieces are all included. Just print & play!

Materials

• Dora Rocks Board Game Templates
• Scissors
• Glue or tape

Directions

1. Step 1: Prepare for Crafting

   Print out the Dora Rocks Board Game Templates on card stock or heavy weight paper. Help your child cut out all the pieces, keeping them in three separate piles (game board templates, die, and character pieces).

2. Step 2: Make the Game Board

   Match the colors on the templates until a square-like shape is formed. Apply tape or glue on the tabs to hold the game board together. Affix the image of Benny's barn to the center of the game board to complete it.

3. Step 3: Fold to Make Die

   Fold along the lines on the die template that separate each number. Once folded the template will take the form of a cube. Apply glue to the tabs to keep it together.

4. Step 4: Create the Game Pieces

   Cut the pieces along the dotted lines. Fold up along the solid line at the base of each character. Fold the character in half to create a double-sided game piece, apply glue, and firmly press both sides together. Be careful not to apply glue to the base. <br><br>TIP: Affix a penny to the bottom of the games pieces to weigh them down.

5. Step 5: Game Play

   Each player selects a character piece and places their character on the board in the characters corresponding color-coded home base. Each player rolls the die, whoever rolls the highest number goes first.<br><br> During their turn, each player rolls the die and moves their character that many spaces on the board. The object of the game is to get your player around the board and across their color-coded bridge leading to the barn. A player does not have to roll the exact number to get their piece into the barn.<br><br> For competitive game play: if a player lands on a space that another character is occupying, they can send the other player's character back to his/her home base. The first player to reach Benny's barn wins!<br><br> For younger aged children, continue to play until all players make it to Benny's barn.
