Dora's Fairytale Castle

Once upon a time, you and your Dora fan built a beautiful castle out of everyday items! It's perfect for pretend play or a magical party centerpiece.

Materials

• Jumbo pack tissue box
• 1 paper towel roll cut in half
• 1 medium paper cup and 1 tiny paper cup
• Self-adhesive gems
• Mauve and purple craft paint
• Paintbrushes
• Purple glitter glue
• Blue construction paper
• Black marker or crayon
• Wooden barbecue skewer or slim dowel
• Purple, glittery scrapbook paper
• Mauve cardstock or poster board
• Dora Fairy Tale Puppets
• Popsicle sticks

Directions

1. Step 1

   Begin by painting all the pieces. With the mauve paint, paint the outside of the tissue box, the two paper towel roll pieces, and the two paper cups. With the dark purple paint, paint the self-adhesive gems purple. When all of the pieces are dry, paint a window on each of the tubes and two arched windows on the larger paper cup. Use glitter glue to outline each window. Poke a tiny hole in the top of the smaller one so that you can use it to insert the flag later.

2. Step 2

   From the blue construction paper, cut an arched doorway. Draw vertical strips with the marker or crayon. Glue the door to the front of the tissue box. Glue the self-adhesive gems around the doorway.

3. Step 3

   Cut out a blue flag. Outline it in glitter glue. Glue it to the skewer or dowel. Set aside.

4. Step 4

   From the glittered scrapbook paper, cut two circles, each about 2 inches in circumference. Cut a slit into the center of each, then wrap into a cone shape. Glue. Let dry and then glue one to the top of each of the tubes. Let dry. Set aside.

5. Step 5

   Cut two wide strips of the mauve cardstock for the fortress walls. Cut notches across the top of each. Glue one to each side of the castle to create a curved wall.

6. Step 6

   Glue one turret on each side of the door.

7. Step 7

   Stack and glue the two paper cups, then glue them to the top of the tissue box. Insert the flag.

8. Step 8

   Print and cut out Dora Fairy Tale Puppets. Glue them each to a popsicle stick. Let the "Once upon a time..." begin!
