Dora Mermaid Puppet Theater

In "Dora's Rescue in Mermaid Kingdom," Dora helps reunite a little mermaid with her mommy! Kids can re-create that magical moment and start their own aquatic adventures when you create this simple cereal box theater!

Materials

• Puppet theater templates
• Puppets
• 2 standard size cereal boxes
• Scissors
• Glue

Directions

1. Step 1

   Print out the puppet theater templates and puppets.

2. Step 2

   Collapse both cereal boxes until they are flat. One cereal box will serve as the mermaid cove and the other will be the ocean floor.<br><br> Select a box to serve as the cove and fold back the bottom flap. Once folded, the cereal box should stand on its own. Cut off the top flaps of the cereal box.

3. Step 3

   Help your kids paste the puppet theater cove templates together and affix them to the cereal box that was cut to serve as the mermaid's cove.<br><br> Allow time to dry and cut the seashell along the dotted lines. This will create a door. Parents may also choose to cut out the background and windows (like we did).

4. Step 4

   Print multiple copies of the ocean floor printable, cut and use to cover the second cereal box. Once covered, apply glue to the bottom flaps of the cove and affix it to the ground. (See photo for reference).<br><br> Fold along the lines of the rock printable and glue the tab to the ocean floor.

5. Step 5

   Set the castle aside to dry, and cut out each of the characters. Create the base of the puppet by folding up the solid black line, then fold the character down the center, apply glue to one side and firmly press both sides together. This will create a double-sided puppet that stands (glue should not be applied to the base of the puppet). <br><br> When the puppets dry, your child's underwater adventures can begin!
