Ages: 4-6

Materials

  • Designer Purse printables
  • Brown paper lunch bags
  • 8 1/2- by 11-in. heavyweight ink jet paper
  • Safety scissors
  • Glue stick
  • 12-in. lengths of 1/4-in. diameter ribbon or yarn (any color)
  • Hole punch
Tip: For a more colorful party, use several different colors of ribbon for the bags.

Directions

  1. Step 1: Getting Ready

For each goody bag, print one copy of the two-page Designer Purse printable onto heavyweight paper. Let pages dry briefly, then cut out the shapes. <br /><br /> Create the interior for your bag by cutting off the top of a lunch bag so that it's the same height as the purse shape. Ideally, the bag should not be visible once it is attached to the inside of your front and back pieces.

  2. Step 2: Make Your Bag

Keeping the trimmed lunch bag flat, glue the purse shapes to the front and back of the flattened lunch bag. Allow to dry completely before attaching the strap.

  3. Step 3: Make the Strap

To create the strap, you will first need to punch two holes in the top corners or edges of your bag. For best results punch through the front and back at the same time to create even holes.<br /><br /> Next thread a 12-inch piece of ribbon or string through the holes on each side of your bag. Work from the inside out, gluing the loose ends to the inside of your bag. Let dry completely.

  4. Step 4: Fill the bag

Fill the bag with your party goodies.

Tip: This is a great craft to get the whole family involved. Set up a small assembly line and you'll have all of your goody bags prepared in no time.
