Easy Octopus Craft

This little undersea fellow can be easily made in minutes with a toilet tissue roll, one felt square, and a bag of tiny pom-poms!

Materials

• 1 toilet tissue roll
• Crayon OR
• Tempera paint and paintbrush
• 1 felt square that matches your chosen paint color
• Fabric glue
• Pink or white 1/2-in. pom-poms
• Googly eyes or black marker

Directions

1. Step 1

   Cut a toilet tissue roll in half. Let your child pick a color to paint over the halved toilet tissue roll, inside and out. Let dry.

2. Step 2

   While waiting for the paint to dry, cut the felt square into eight strips about the same width. Trim down the top of each strip to resemble a finger shape.

3. Step 3

   Glue the eight "tentacles" with fabric glue to the bottom of the toilet tissue roll. To ensure an even arrangement of the tentacles, glue four strips down first in the directions of a cross. Fill up the gaps between the four felt strips with the remaining strips.

4. Step 4

   Help your child glue 1/2-inch pom-poms onto the inward side of the eight tentacles to resemble the suction cups.

5. Step 5

   Glue on a pair of googly eyes or draw two black dots at mid-height of the painted toilet tissue roll. Your little undersea monster is now ready to stretch out!
