The Fresh Beat Band Shakers

Keep the beats with the Fresh Beat Band with these easy-to-make shakers! Make personalized shakers with paper towel tubes, colorful pattern printouts, pipe cleaners, and jingle bells!

Materials

• Paper towel tubes
• The Fresh Beat Band Patterns & Stickers
• Scissors
• Glue stick
• Big nail or pushpin
• Pipe cleaners or twist ties
• 6 jingle bells (for one shaker)

Directions

1. Step 1

   Have your child pick her favorite patterns and character stickers from The Fresh Beat Band Patterns & Stickers Printable. Print them out. Trim the pattern to fit the paper towel tube, apply glue all around the tube, then wrap the tube with the printed pattern. Seal the ends together. Then glue on the character sticker.

2. Step 2

   Use a big thick nail to poke three pairs of holes down from the top of the decorated tube. Avoid piercing through the character images for the best look. If you don't have big nails, use a pushpin to create tiny holes first. Then use the tip of your scissors to poke through each hole making them bigger.

3. Step 3

   Cut two pipe cleaners in half. Starting from the bottom pair of holes, thread a half of a pipe cleaner through both holes. Thread the pipe cleaner's two outside ends each through the bottom ring of a jingle bell, wrap tightly once to affix the bell to the tube. Cut away the additional length. Repeat the procedure to add two more pairs of bells to the tube. Note: No knotting is necessary.

4. Step 4

   Make as many shakers as you like. Play the Fresh Beat Band music and have your child shake along!
