Materials

  • Geo Costume Templates
  • Royal blue felt
  • Light blue felt
  • Yellow felt
  • Orange felt
  • Green felt
  • Red felt
  • Clear-drying fabric glue
  • Heavy cardboard for the mask (you can cut up a box)
  • Elastic string
  • Short-sleeve blue T-shirt
  • Long-sleeve blue T-shirt
  • Adhesive velcro strips
  • Blue pants or sweatpants
  • Scissors

Directions

  1. Step 1

Start by making the mask. Print and cut out the Geo Costume Templates. Please note the head portion of the mask template should be enlarged by 20 percent. You can enlarge on a copy machine. Trace the mask shape onto the cardboard piece and cut it out.

  2. Step 2

Trace the template pieces onto felt. Trace the outer mask template onto the royal blue felt; the swirl onto the light blue felt; the two mask toppers onto red felt, and the oval shape (for the inner portion of the mask) onto yellow felt.

  3. Step 3

Glue the red toppers to the cardboard mask. Next, attach the elastic string on either side of the opening, adjusting its length to fit your child's head.

  4. Step 4

Using the photo as a guide, glue the royal blue mask piece, yellow oval piece for the inner mask, and light blue stripe to the front of the cardboard mask. Set aside.

  5. Step 5

Next, make the clothing. Cut a 2-inch wide band from the orange felt large enough to go around your child's waist. Cut out the circle, square, and triangle for the belt using the templates. Glue them in place. Glue the belt to the bottom of the short sleeve T-shirt. Once dry, slip the short-sleeve T-shirt over the long-sleeve one.

  6. Step 6

Lastly, make the roller skates. (These are covers that slip over your child's actual shoes.) You may need to adjust their length as needed to fit your child's shoe. Trace the templates for all the boot pieces onto the royal blue, light blue, orange and yellow felt pieces.

  7. Step 7

Glue the two sides of the boots together along the edge of the front curved portion only, starting at the front base of the toe and stopping at the top. Add the sole and roller skate wheel pieces. For the back boot closure, apply 2 velcro closures. To put these on your child, slip over his shoes, then do up the closure in the back. Please note the bottom of the soles are open so your child is actually walking on his own shoe soles.

Tip: The head portion of the mask template should be enlarged by 20 percent. The remaining templates are true to size.
