Hoho Bath Mitt

Hoho Bath Mitt

Hoho is ready for a splash in the bath. All you have to do is get him ready. To get started, pick up a white bath mitt and tan washcloth next time you're shopping. This project can be stitched in big stitches by hand. Or if you prefer, you can use a sewing machine.

Materials

  • Tan washcloth
  • Printable Hoho Bath Mitt Templates
  • White store-bought bath mitt
  • Fabric scissors
  • Black and pink felt scraps (for eyes and mouth)
  • Needle and white or tan thread
  • Fabric glue
Tip: Store-bought bath mitts can be found at most home goods stores. We found ours at Target.

Directions

  1. Step 1

To make the ears from the tan washcloth, use the printable templates to cut out four ear shapes. Stack one ear piece on top of another with the edges aligned. With the needle and thread, backstitch most---but not all the way--around the perimeter.

Turn the ear piece right-side out. Whipstitch the ear piece closed. Repeat with the second ear piece.

  2. Step 2

Position the ears on the sides of the mitt, referring to the photo as a guide. Stitch them in place along their bottom edges only.

  3. Step 3

Using the face template as a guide, cut a face-shaped hole in the top layer of the white bath mitt. From the tan washcloth, cut out a patch large enough to tuck behind the face opening. Stitch the mitt edges to the tan face using white thread. If you are using a sewing machine, zigzag to prevent fraying.

  4. Step 4

Cut out the eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth pieces. Secure them to the mitt with fabric glue.
