July 4th Fireworks Cap

A burst of fireworks from the top of this easy-to-make cap announce the day!

This craft requires extra parent involvement and a watchful eye, because it may require sharp tools or intricate handiwork.

Ages: 2-5

Materials

Child-size cap in red, white, or blue (we used blue)
Star-spangled wire garland
Duct tape (we used red)
Self-adhesive foamie stars OR foam/felt sheets in red, white, and blue
Fabric glue (OPTIONAL)

Directions

Step 1
Snip the garland into a series of short lengths.
Step 2
Bundle them and wrap them with the duct tape, covering the tips. Wrap again to make the bundle more cushioned.
Step 3
Snip a very small hole in the top of the hat. Push the taped part of the �fireworks� through the hole and bend the taped portion so that it lays flat with the top of the hat. Secure with duct tape. Cover with a self-adhesive foamie star or with a layer of felt, glued in place.
Step 4
Add the self-adhesive foamie stars to the front of the hat. Or draw star shapes on red, white and blue foam/felt sheets, cut them out and glue to the hat.
Step 5
Celebrate Independence Day!
