Valentine's Day Heart-Shaped Pillow: Kai-lan

Materials

• 1 yd. red fleece
• Kai-lan Pillow Templates
• Scissors
• Stapler
• Fabric glue
• Felt color swatches in beige, black, white, brown, red, and pink
• Puffy paint (assorted colors)
• Polyester fiber
• Decorative trim of your choice

Directions

1. Step 1

   Cut out a 32- by 14-inch stripe of red fleece. Fold it in half widthwise.

2. Step 2

   Print and cut out the templates. Enlarge the heart shape to desired size (within a 16- by 14-inch frame), then place the enlarged heart shape atop the folded fleece. Staple the four corners of the folded fleece to ensure the least movement between the two layers.

3. Step 3

   After tracing the heart shape onto the fleece, with the fleece folded, cut along the heart shape. You'll get two identical fleece heart shapes.

4. Step 4

   Glue only the edges of the two fleece shapes together, but leave a big enough section open to stuff with the polyester fiber later. Set the heart aside.

5. Step 5

   Trace Kai-lan's facial shapes onto the color felt as designated on the templates. Cut out all the felt shapes.

6. Step 6

   Glue the felt shapes together and onto the fleece heart pocket, referring to the pillow image on our templates. Use puffy paint to draw Kai-lan's eyebrows, nose, and to outline Kai-lan's eyes.

7. Step 7

   Let the glue and paint dry.

8. Step 8

   Fill in the heart pocket with the polyester fiber and then glue the rest of the heart edges together. Now you have a stuffed heart pillow with Kai-lan on it!

9. Step 9

   Glue the decorative trim along the upside edge of the finished heart pillow.
