Help your kids prepare for the Ladybug Festival with these foldable paper fans.

Materials

• Fan Printable
• Safety Scissors
• Glue stick
• Stapler
• 2 craft sticks
• Optional: Colorable Fan Printable

Directions

1. Print and cut

   Print out the three page <a href="paper-fans-characters-color.jhtml">Fan Printable</a>. Cut them out along the dotted lines. (This is a great step for your child to do with a pair of safety scissors.)

2. Glue or tape the pages together

   Use a glue stick to attach the three pages together, overlapping where indicated. Allow time for the glue to dry.

3. Begin folding

   Place the fan printable with the color side down. Start at one side and fold back a 1-inch section of the paper. Then flip the printable over and fold back another 1/2 inch section. Use the alternative color stripes as a guide. Repeat this process (often called a fan fold) until you reach the other side of the printable. <br /><br /> Once you get the folds started, your kids can finish up the folding.

4. Secure the base of the fan

   Staple the base of the fan together with two staples (just under the yellow dotted line).

5. Attach the craft stick handles

   Use a glue stick to attach one craft stick to each side of fan where indicated. The craft sticks should extend at least two inches past the end of the fan to form a handle. Allow time for the glue to dry

6. Extend your fan and enjoy!

   Extend the fan pulling the craft sticks together at the bottom, and you're ready for the Ladybug Festival!
