Kwanzaa Bracelets

Your kids can create a bracelet to wear or share during Kwanzaa!

Materials

• Black felt
• Farfelle or dry pasta tubes
• Child-safe paint (such as watercolors or tempera) or markers (red, black, green)
• String
• Safety scissors
• Fabric glue
• Hole punch

Directions

1. Step 1

   Help your child decide which bracelet he/she would like to make. The farfelle (bow-tie pasta) and pasta tube bracelets are featured in the photo.<br><br> Once your child has picked his/her pasta preference, assist him/her as they paint the pasta red, green, and black. You will need about five farfelle pastas and/or twenty pasta tubes for each bracelet.

2. Step 2

   Cut the felt about 7 inches long and 2 inches wide, or simply wrap the felt around your child's wrist, and cut the amount your child desires considering how thick of a band he/she wants(see photo for reference).<br><br> Once the felt sheet is cut, punch a hole at each end, about a half an inch from the edge.

3. Step 3

   Use the fabric glue to paste the dry pasta to the felt. Allow time to dry.

4. Step 4

   Cut the string about 8 inches long. This string will be used to tie the bracelet around your child's wrist, so make it long enough to form a bow.

5. Step 5

   When the pasta is secured onto the felt, put the bracelet on your child's wrist, thread the string through the holes you punched in Step 2, then tie the string.
