Max & Ruby Clutter Busters

"Dress up" empty containers in outfits like the ones Max and Ruby wear. We used scrap-book paper, but fabric would work as well.

Ages: 3-6

Materials

  • An empty can or container
  • Scrapbooking paper for a "t-shirt"
  • Scrapbooking paper for a "dress" or "overalls"
  • Safety scissors
  • Glue
  • Dark pencil or marker
Tip: Any decorative paper, including scrapbook and wrapping paper can be used for this project.

Directions

  1. Step 1: Cut and glue

Cut a strip the height of the can from the paper that will represent Max or Ruby’s "t-shirt." Glue the strip to the can or container.

  2. Step 2: "Dress up" the containers

Cut a strip the height of the can from the paper that will represent Max's overalls or Ruby's dress. Then cut a notch and two "armholes" at the center of the strip. Glue on top of "shirt."

  3. Step 3: Draw the finishing touches

With the pencil or marker, draw a pocket and buttons.

Tip: For simpler gluing, dip a small paintbrush in glue and apply it to the entire container. Then affix the paper.
