Mighty Knights Shoe Box Puppet Theater

Now kids can perform a "Tale of The Mighty Knights." It all begins with our printables and a shoe box!

This craft requires extra parent involvement and a watchful eye, because it may require sharp tools or intricate handiwork.

You'll need to allow extra time for glue or paint to dry.

Pretend play allows children to creatively express ideas and feelings, as well as think and solve problems through imagination and make-believe.

Creativity enhances self-expression and problem-solving. Decorative crafts allow preschoolers to create through imagination and experimentation.

Ages: 3-6

Materials

Mighty Knights Castle Backdrops
Scissors
Shoe box (grown-up size is recommended)
Glue stick
Tape
Mighty Knights Puppets
Craft sticks (or popsicle sticks, pencils, chopsticks)

Tip: For a miniature version of this theater, use a kids' size shoe box.

Directions

Step 1: Print out the backdrops
Print out the nine-page Mighty Knights Castle Backdrops to decorate the inside and outside of your shoe box.
Step 2: Design the set
Help your child cut out the backdrops to fit your box. There are pages for outside walls (small stones), towers, turrets, and interior walls/floor (larger stones). Use the photo as a guide or mix and match and make your own castle!
Step 3: Make the puppets
Print the Mighty Knights Puppets and help your child cut them out. Glue or tape the characters to craft sticks (or pencils or chop sticks) and you've got puppets!
Step 4: Put on a show
Place the box on the edge of a table and add a loop of tape to the bottom to attach it firmly in place. With your child seated in front of the box, he or she can tell the "Tale of the Mighty Knights."

Tip: For quick assembly, cut out all the pieces before you begin.
