Materials

Directions

  1. Step 1

Print and cut out Moose & Zee Apple Lacing Template.

  2. Step 2

Trace the apple shape twice to colored foam, cardstock, or construction paper. We chose red, green, and yellow foam for this craft.

  3. Step 3

Stack the two apple foam shapes, making sure their outlines match.

  4. Step 4

With the two apple shapes stacked, punch holes through both layers along their edge but leave out the top. Note: You have to punch an even number of holes so that both ends of the ribbon can meet on the same side of the apple shapes.

  5. Step 5

Cut a piece of ribbon or yarn. Taking two stacked apple shapes as one shape, help your child thread the ribbon through the first hole and keep lacing through all the holes.

  6. Step 6

Help your child make a bowtie in the back with two ends of the ribbon. Cut away the additional length. Now you have an apple pouch with a bowtie!

  7. Step 7 (OPTIONAL)

To convert the apple pouch to a portable bag, save extra length of ribbon at both ends, wrap the ribbon once around the first and the last holes respectively. Tie the loose ends together.

Tip: Your child can also decorate the pouches with colorful foam shapes, glitter, hand drawings, or Moose & Zee character stickers.
