Olivia Bedroom Welcome Mat

This craft is best suited for parents to make on their own or with minimal help from kids.

You'll need to allow extra time for glue or paint to dry.

Materials

Olivia Welcome Mat Templates
1/2-yd. gray felt
3 squares pink felt
Brown and burgundy felt scraps
1/2-yd. quilt batting
Pins
Tapestry needle and red embroidery floss
Fabric scissors
Fabric glue

Directions

Step 1
Print the templates for Olivia and the letters. Trace the templates onto the felt, referring to the photo as a color guide, and cut out the pieces. Set them aside.
Step 2
Cut two rectangles of felt, about 16 inches by about 24 inches.
Step 3
Cut another rectangle from the batting, slightly smaller than the felt rectangles, depending on how wide you want the margins to be.
Step 4
Sandwich the batting between the two felt rectangles. Pin.
Step 5
Thread the needle with embroidery thread and make large stitches around the perimeter of the batting. Then glue together the two felt rectangles along their perimeter.
Step 6
Glue the nose, eyes, nostrils, and mouth to the Olivia head piece. Glue the head to the mat. Then glue each of the letters to the mat to spell "Welcome."
