  • 1 package cotton batting
  • Adult-size royal-blue sweatshirt
  • 8 royal-blue sport socks
  • 2 yd. florist wire
  • 8 rubber bands
  • 8 large safety pins
  • 12-in.-square black felt
  • Fabric glue or hot-glue gun
  • 4-oz. plastic container bottom, cleaned
  • 8-oz. plastic container lid, cleaned
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Velcro self-adhesive strips

Directions

  1. Step 1

Stuff the grocery bags with the cotton batting until full.

  2. Step 2

Slip your child's arms through the handles of the bags, so they rest over his shoulders; there should be one bag dangling in the front and one in the back.

  3. Step 3

Pull the sweatshirt over the bags.

  4. Step 4

Stuff the socks loosely with the batting.

  5. Step 5

Cut and place a piece of florist wire inside each sock and bend it to shape.

  6. Step 6

Use a rubber band to tie off the top of the sock 1 inch from the top.

  7. Step 7

Pin the socks around the inside bottom of the sweatshirt.

  8. Step 8

Cut Oswald's features from black felt, as in photo. Glue to the sweatshirt.

  9. Step 9

Glue the plastic container bottom to the larger lid to make a hat. Paint it black and let it dry. Attach it to the right shoulder of shirt with Velcro.
