Winter Pinecone Bird Feeder

Teach your child about caring for animals by making a bird feeder designed to help feed the birds over the cold winter.

Materials

Large Pinecone
Peanut Butter
Winter Bird Seed
Tray or Plate
String

Directions

Step 1: Find a Pinecone
Go hunting in your yard for a large pinecone with lots of space between each row.
Step 2: Apply Peanut Butter
Spread peanut butter between each row of scales.
Step 3: Add Birdseed
Sprinkle birdseed over the pine cone until the peanut butter is covered with seed. Keep the tray underneath to catch the extra seed.
Hang it Outside
Tie a string around the top row of the pine cone and hang it up outside.
