Tolee's Panda Bath Mitt

Tolee's Panda Bath Mitt

Transform a store-bought bath mitt and black washcloth into a bathtime friend. This project can be stitched in big stitches by hand. Or if you prefer to use felt instead of washcloth for the ears, you can use fabric glue instead.

Materials

  • Black washcloth (or one square of black felt)
  • Printable Panda Bath Mitt Templates
  • White store-bought bath mitt
  • Fabric scissors
  • Black felt scraps (for eyes and nose)
  • Needle and black thread
  • Fabric glue
Tip: Store-bought bath mitts can be found at most home goods stores. We found ours at Target.

Directions

  1. Step 1

To make the ears from the washcloth: Use the printable templates to cut out four ear shapes. Stack one ear piece on top of another with the edges aligned. With the needle and thread, backstitch most---but not all the way--around the perimeter.

Turn the ear right-side out. Whipstitch the ear closed. Repeat with second ear. (If you’re making felt ears, cut out just two ear pieces. Glue them in place along their bottom edges to the mitt.)

  2. Step 2

Position the ears on the mitt, referring to the photo as a guide. Stitch them in place along their bottom edges only. (The tops of the ears are loose.)

  3. Step 3

Cut out the eye and nose pieces. Secure them to the mitt with fabric glue.
