A hardboiled egg and some pink dye or paint are just the beginning. With finishing touches, such as antennae and a rosy-cheeked smile, this egg decoration is as fun to look at as it is to make.
Your backyard friends are on Nick Jr. every day

Cut an individual cell from the carton, turn the cell upside down, and cut an opening in the top just big enough to secure the small end of the egg. If you can't find a pink egg carton, kids can paint the carton using the light-pink glitter paint. At the same time kids can dye or paint the egg light pink. While the egg and egg carton are drying, prepare the eyes, antennae, and felt overalls pieces so they will be ready to glue on as soon as the egg and egg stand are dry.
Cut out two small ovals from white paper and show kids how to glue one wiggle eye on top of each white oval. Snip a pipe cleaner into two 1 1/2-inch lengths for the antennae. Cut out pale pink overalls freehand from the pink felt. Cut out two straps, about a half inch wide and about 2 inches long. Have kids mark one red dot at the end of each strap of the overalls to create buttons. Set the pieces aside.
When the egg (and the egg carton, if necessary) is dry, have kids paint four large dark-pink spots on the egg. Let dry.
Glue the overalls to the dry egg carton cell. Glue the straps to the egg carton cell.
Have kids glue the eyes to the large end of the egg. With the red marker, draw the mouth.
Parents can use the sewing needle to bore two holes in the top of the egg for the pipe cleaner antennae. Older kids can insert the pipe cleaners themselves. Place the egg on top of the stand.
