Wonder Pets Recycled Birdhouse

Don't toss that oatmeal container when it's empty. Transform it into a wonder-home for birds!

Materials

• Empty oatmeal or cornmeal container
• Red decorative paper for roof
• Scissors
• Craft glue
• Purple paint or decorative paper to cover container
• Short dowel or pencil for perch
• Red paint
• Printable Wonder Pets nature stickers
• Inkjet or laser printer sticker paper (OPTIONAL)

Directions

1. Step 1

   To make the roof, cut out a circle that measures about 6 inches in diameter. Cut a slit from one edge inward to the center. Fold the cut pieces over each other to create a cone shape. Glue to secure. Set aside.

2. Step 2

   Paint the container purple and let dry, or cover it with purple paper, gluing it in place. Let dry.

3. Step 3

   Parents only: Cut a hole, about 1 1/4 inches in diameter, in the front of the birdhouse, about halfway down.

4. Step 4

   Print the <u><a href="wonder-pets-wall-stickers.jhtml">Wonder Pets nature stickers</a></u> and apply them to the birdhouse.

5. Step 5

   To create the perch, paint the dowel or pencil red. Then, poke a small hole and insert the perch.

6. Step 6

   Apply a generous amount of glue to the rim of the oatmeal container. Set the roof on top of the rim. Let dry. If you are hanging the bird house, poke a hole in the roof and add a loop of wire or string.
