Directions

  1. STEP 1: Get Ready

    Make the Dance Circle
Print one set of the Yo Gabba Monsters Faces onto the iron-transfer paper, then place the transfers in a wide circle on a white or brightly colored table cloth, securing them with safety pins. When all faces are in place, follow the transfer instructions for ironing and transferring the images onto the table cloth. Keep working in this way until you have transferred all faces onto the dance circle. Remove all safety pins once all faces have been transferred.

Create the Game Spinner
Next print the Yo Gabba Monster Moves Spinner and Dance Moves poster onto card stock weight paper. The heavier the paper the better. Cut out the spinner and arrow, then use the tips of the brad fastener to poke a hole in the center of each piece (use white dot as your guide), then use fastener to attach arrow to the spinner face. Now you're ready to play.

TIP FOR PARENTS: To extend the life of the spinner and spinner arrow, after printing, laminate each piece by using cold lamination sheets to seal and protect the game pieces, making them more durable for repeated game play use.

Parents can also glue the spinner to a piece of card board for a more sturdy support for spinning.

  2. STEP 2: Let's Dance

Spread the dance circle out on the floor, use tape or books to hold down the edges. All players should be in their stocking feet and standing at the edge of the dance circle.

To encourage shy children, and prepare all players for the game, have the whole group practice each monster move together.

Next, put on a favorite CD of dance tunes then have players take turns spinning the arrow on the spinner. When the arrow lands on a Yo Gabba monster, check the Monster Moves poster to see what move to make, then have the player step onto that characters face on the dance circle and make the move. If the arrow lands on DJ Lance, the player gets to jump into the middle of the dance circle and make up a new freestyle dance that all the other players do as well.

TIP FOR PARENTS: To keep the game fun, have everyone call out the name of the move the player has to make before he makes it.

  3. STEP 3: Don't Forget the Fun

Although each Yo Gabba Gabba monster has a specific type of move, try to encourage each player to give that move their own flair, especially when the spinner lands on the wild card spot (DJ Lance) because that's an opportunity for the player to make up a fun and funky freestyle dance--the sillier, the better!

The object here is to encourage creativity and to create a safe environment for everyone to dance and have fun.
