advertisementMore than 3,500 wild animals make a stop each year at this southern Florida wildlife-rehabilitation center and sanctuary. "Our primary mission is to serve as a wild-animal hospital," explains David Hitzig, the sanctuary's executive director. "We have everything from eagles to panthers, all native to Florida." Visitors can peek at species "on the mend" in the hospital as well as those whose injuries prevent them from being released back into the wild.
