Step 2
Prepare the chocolate fudge frosting. Frost the bottom cake layer and place the second layer on top. Frost the top and the sides of the cake.
Step 3
Lay chocolate-covered graham crackers across middle of the cake to make a dirt road.
Step 4
With a knife, carefully cut out a mini-construction pit from the cake and make a pile of cake crumbs next to it. Place a dump truck toy near the pit. Fill the pit and dump truck with brown M&M boulders and place candy-corn traffic cones around the pit.
Step 5
Place a crane toy near the back edge of the cake. Attach a pretzel tree trunk to the crane with a bit of frosting.
Step 6
On another corner of the cake, attach pretzels together with frosting to form a square shape that looks like a log-cabin frame.
Step 7
Place a cement mixer toy on the cake near the graham crackers. Squeeze white frosting into the back of the cement mixer so that it looks like cement coming out onto the dirt road.
Step 8
Roll green gumdrops flat and sprinkle them with cornstarch so they don't stick together. Cut a circle from each flattened gumdrop with a cookie cutter. Put a dab of frosting on the ends of three pretzels and place flattened gumdrops on top of the pretzels to make trees.
Step 9
Place the M&M's around the base of the cake.
