Ingredients
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
3 cups flour
1 tube blue frosting (available at party-supply stores)
Toothpicks

Start Cooking

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Print and cut out Blue's paw print template.

Step 2
Begin the dough-making process, by blending the butter and sugar with an electric mixer in a mixing bowl.

Step 3
Mix in the egg and vanilla, then add the baking powder. Add the flour one cup at a time until the dough is very stiff.

Step 4
Divide the dough into two balls and roll the balls out into 1/8-inch-thick circles on a floured surface.

Step 5
Use a toothpick to trace the paw print template on to the dough. Remove the excess dough and transfer the paw shape to an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for six to seven minutes or until the cookies are lightly browned.

Step 6
When the cookies are cool, squeeze out with the blue frosting a large circle on the base of the paw and smaller dots on the “toes” of each paw. Smooth the frosting with your fingertips.
