By-the-Numbers Salad

Count down the fun when you make this healthy salad together

Your preschooler can practice counting and learn the importance of good nutrition when you make this colorful and delicious fruit salad together. Serve it up as a snack or as part of a healthy lunch.



Ingredients
1 handful toasted coconut
2 tbsp. thawed orange juice concentrate
3 pieces peeled, seeded orange
4 apple slices
5 dice-sized cubes mild cheese (fontina or mild cheddar)
6 banana slices
7 melon slices (cantaloupe, honeydew, or watermelon)
8 seedless grapes



Start Cooking

Step 1

Toss 1 handful of coconut into a big bowl.



Step 2

Add 2 tablespoons of the orange juice concentrate.



Step 3

Let the kids start counting out and adding the fruit! First, put 3 orange pieces in the bowl.



Step 4

The 4 apple slices go in next.



Step 5

Toss in the 5 cheese cubes.



Step 6

Drop in the 6 banana slices.



Step 7

Add 7 pieces of melon.



Step 8

Throw in 8 grapes!



Step 9

Mix your salad up.



Step 10

Your Number Salad is ready to eat!
