Rated PG-13
Action Adventure | Fantasy/Sci-Fi
Agent J (Will Smith) travels back in time to save his mysterious partner, Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones)--and all of humankind.
Third one's the charm as this three-quel to the wildly successful Men in Black franchise returns to the just-plain-fun factor of the original. The agents are as appealing as ever, and, in a brilliant casting move, Josh Brolin perfectly portrays a young K. The story may be too confusing for younger kids but tweens, especially fans of the series, will easily give J, K and company an A!
This movie is intended for older children.
This movie is intended for older children.
Younger children may have trouble following the story, especially if they haven't seen the first two movies. They're not likely to be interested in the time travel back to the 1960s, and will miss many of the references to cultural icons and events of that period. Older kids will be fascinated by bad guy Boris and will find his sensitivity to constantly being called "the Animal" very funny.
Tweens will be glad to welcome J and K back again, and will love that J finally gets to know his close-mouthed partner better. They'll enjoy the camaraderie between the two, both now and in the past. They'll see clearly how the events in our personal history shape the people we become, and will realize that--unlike the Men in Black--they only have one chance to make things right.
