Give this favorite wintertime beverage a touch of spice with cinnamon and cloves
1/4 cup sugar
4 tbsp. good-quality pure cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
Pinch ground clove
4 cups milk (1 qt.)
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
4 tbsp. whipped cream
Step 1
In a saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and clove. Add 1/2 cup of the milk to the saucepan and blend until smooth.
Step 2
Slowly add the remaining milk, continuing to stir.
Step 3
Warm the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, and watching to make sure it doesn't boil.
Step 4
Add the vanilla extract.
Step 5
Pour the hot chocolate in four mugs and top each one with whipped cream
