Pencil
Cardboard
Blue craft foam

What You Do

Step 1
Trim off the arms of the sweat suit jacket to make either a sleeveless or a short-sleeve vest. (We found a light-blue sweat suit with white shoulder bands made by Players Express Collection at a store called Children's Wear.) Save the arms for step 6. Scrunch up tinfoil to make two narrow cigar shapes about 5 inches long. Attach a safety pin to the center of each, bend the tinfoil into a crescent, and pin to the jacket's shoulders.

Step 2
Use blue tape (or plain masking tape colored with a blue marker) to make a horizontal stripe up each pant leg. Use white masking tape to make white stripes on the sides of the vest and up the sides of the legs. Use the black paint marker to make a line down the center of the plain masking tape. Tip: Don't try to match Sportacus's stripes exactly; it's not necessary to get a good result. Just concentrate on combining dark blue, light blue, and black-and-white stripes in general.

Step 3
Use the plain masking tape and black marker to make a stripe down the center of a blue ski hat. If the hat has a logo on it, turn it inside out. To make the end pointy, cut off a bit of the top and tie it tight with a piece of matching blue yarn.

Step 4
Draw an oval about 4 inches long on a piece of cardboard. Trace the shape onto blue craft foam and cut it out with a utility knife. Draw an "S" with silver or gold paint markers. Outline the "S" with the black paint marker. Tape a safety pin on the back and pin it to the sweatpants.

Step 5
Cut out another blue-foam oval and a white-foam oval. Trim the white oval until it's about 1/4 inch smaller all around. Draw a big "10" on the white oval with a silver or gold paint marker. Glue it to the blue oval and decorate around the edges with the silver or gold markers. Tape a safety pin to the back and pin it to the T-shirt.

Step 6
Take the sleeves and trim them to a good size for your child's forearms. (Part of your child's biceps should be exposed.) Add stripes with the tapes and markers. Secure the un-cuffed end to his arms using two pieces of black Velcro strapping.

Step 7
Cut out a moustache shape freehand from the felt and put a small tape loop on back to hold it in place. Add swimming goggles and your child is ready to go.
