What You Need
Brown knit cap
Scissors
Swimming goggles
Hook-and-loop (Velcro®) fastener tape
Needle and thread
Yellow fleece pajamas with hood (or pajama bottoms and yellow hoodie)
27" x 54" green fleece, cotton, or bed sheet
8 1/2" x 11" swatches of yellow, blue, and red felt
Ming-Ming Costume Template
Orange felt
Elastic
Pink craft foam
Hole punch
Craft glue
Paper towel Roll
Green crepe paper or tissue

What You Do

Step 1
To make Ming-Mings aviator hat and goggles, cut the two layers of the brown knit cap apart and separate them. Cut aviator-style flaps from one layer and sew them to the other layer. Attach the goggles to the hat by sewing them on or using hook-and-loop (Velcro®) fastener tape. Sew the cap to the fleece hood.

Step 2
Use the green fabric and felt to make a Wonder Pets Cape for Ming-Ming.

Step 3
To make webbed feet and a beak, print the Ming-Ming Costume Template and cut out the shapes. Use the foot shape as a template to cut two duck feet from orange felt. Along the dotted lines, tack or glue ridges in between the webbed feet, to add texture and form. Sew the elastic to the back ends of the webbed foot. (The elastic goes around your childs heel and the webbed feet simply rest on top of your childs regular shoes.)

Step 4
Use the beak-shaped template to cut out Ming-Mings beak from the pink craft foam. You may want to trim the beak to a smaller size for younger children. Punch holes and attach the elastic. (The elastic will go around your childs head to keep the beak in place.) Tip: Reinforce the beak by gluing an extra piece of foam where you will punch the holes.)

Step 5
As a finishing touch, give Ming-Ming a stalk of celery! To make a non-perishable version, we covered a paper towel roll with craft glue and green tissue and crepe paper, gluing more tissue and crepe paper to one end to make leaves.
