What You Need
Pablo Hat Frame Templates
Scissors
1 two-oz. block each blue, red, yellow, and turquoise sculpting clay (such as Sculpey®)
Clay rolling pin, can, or any cylinder-shaped object
Non-serrated plastic knife
Glass baking pan
Self-adhesive magnetic tape
Craft glue

What You Do

Step 1
Print and cut out Pablo Hat Frame Templates.

Step 2
Knead the block of blue sculpting clay in your hand until it's soft. Have your child roll a 1 1/2-inch ball, flatten it, and then use the rolling pin or any cylinder-shaped object to roll out the piece until it's big enough to cover the big circle shape.

Note: Clay blocks can be hard to knead at first. We suggest that parents knead and soften clay of each color before letting children further shape them.

Step 3
Place the big circle shape on top of the clay layer, and have your child cut around the shape on the clay with the plastic knife. Peel away the edges and keep the circle.

Step 4
Place the small circle paper shape on top of the clay circle, and have your child cut around the shape on the clay. Take out the central clay circle, and now you have a blue clay ring.

Step 5
Roll a 1-inch ball of red, yellow, and turquoise sculpting clay. Flatten the balls and roll them into thin disks. Use the knife to trace the spinner shape onto red clay, the hat shape onto yellow clay, and the hat stripe onto turquoise clay.

Step 6
Stack the clay shapes atop the blue clay ring and arrange them like the image reference on the templates. Insert the red spinner's pole between the hat shapes and the ring.

Step 7
Place on the pan and bake at 275°F for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool.

Step 8
Cut a strip of magnetic tape and attach to the back of the frame.

Step 9
Cut your photo to fit the frame and attach from behind. Place the frame on your fridge or anywhere that adheres!
