ROBBIE ROTTEN'S SUGAR MELTDOWN TAG

Step 1
One child gets to be Robbie Rotten first. Whenever Robbie tags someone, that player has a sugar meltdown and crumples to the ground--just like Sportacus does whenever he accidentally eats sugar!

Step 2
A player who has had a sugar meltdown can get back into the game only if another player tags her and she calls out the names of two fruits or vegetables. (A player cannot tag more than one person though, and players cannot name the same fruit or vegetable twice in the same game!)

Step 3
To make the game harder, if Robbie doesn't tag everyone before the first player to be tagged counts to 50, then the sugar wears off and the first player can get back in the game. The second player tagged then begins counting to 50.

SPORTACUS SAYS

Step 1
One player gets to be Sportacus first. Like the game Simon Says, he faces the other players and tells them to act out something, but all of his commands must be to do something healthy. For example, "Sportacus says, 'Let's brush our teeth.' Sportacus says, 'Let's run in place.' Sportacus says, 'Let's try jumping jacks." Sportacus says, 'Let's play tennis.'"

Step 2
The other players must do as Sportacus says, but only if he starts by saying the words Sportacus says. If a player obeys the command when Sportacus hasn't said Sportacus says, he's out of the game.

Step 3
Sportacus should say please at the end of every command. If Sportacus forgets to say please, then another player gets to be Sportacus.

Step 4
The last person left playing gets to be Sportacus next. Keep playing until everyone has had a chance to be Sportacus.

STEPHANIE'S FREEZE DANCE

Step 1
Before playing, kids can select their favorite music on a CD or a cassette tape or turn on the radio to a station they like.

Step 2
One person gets to control the music. When the music is on, everyone dances. When the music stops, everyone freezes.

Step 3
If a player doesn't freeze in time, he's out of the game. The last player still in the game gets to control the music next.

Step 4
Before playing, you might record a selection of different types of music (country, rock, classical) and mix it up on a cassette tape or CD. This way you'll be encouraging kids to dance in different ways based on the different styles of music. You could also practice different types of dances with your kids before you start playing. For example, have them pretend to be ballet dancers, disco dancers, or country line dancers.
