Animation | Action Adventure
As the Ice Age comes to an end, woolly mammoths Manny and Ellie (Ray Romano and Queen Latifah), Sid the sloth (John Leguizamo) and Diego the saber-toothed tiger (Denis Leary) boldly go where no other mammal would dare--underground--and discover a whole other world which is filled with dinosaurs.
Those silly characters are back, still melting audiences' hearts. Children will be delighted that Manny and Ellie are expanding their family with a mini-mammoth, and they'll welcome Buck--the one-eyed weasel--into the unlikely herd. With all the warmth these movies exude, the Ice Age franchise is unlikely to become extinct any time in the near future.
This movie is intended for older children.
Younger kids may not appreciate the dinosaurs roaring in their faces with their gigantic open mouths. Five-year-olds will laugh and laugh at the silly slapstick and every time Sid refers to himself as "mama" when he talks to the baby dinosaurs he "adopted."
Kids in this age group will crack up at the physical humor, especially when a mother dinosaur sucks Sid into her nostril and when a baby dinosaur eats some young animals on the playground and then vomits them back up. They'll think it's hilarious when Buck jumps out of a dinosaur's grasp, screaming, "Pop goes the weasel!" and when he announces, "He who has gas travels at the back of the pack." They'll appreciate that the herd sticks together despite their differences and that they generously open their hearts to new members.
Most tweens have probably outgrown the "Ice Age" movies but may be amused to see Scrat still chasing the elusive acorn he's been eyeing since the original! They'll also enjoy lines like Buck's observation about a butterfly: "I knew that guy when he was a caterpillar--you know, before he came out," and the story he wants to tell, "about the time I turned T-Rex into T-Rachel."
An entire disc of bonus features including two Scrat short films, behind-the-scenes and making-of segments, a music video, a tutorial teaching viewers how to draw Scrat, plus three exclusive interactive games featuring Scrat.
