Age-By-Age Guide
Action Adventure | Fantasy/Sci-Fi
Young farmer Jack (Nicholas Hoult) inadvertently reignites an ancient war between humans and giants when he drops a magical bean.

Based on the classic fairy tale, this is not the "Jack and the Beanstalk" you read to your kids. It's dark, disturbing, and very violent--and not intended for the young children who still enjoy the original story. Plot wise, there are few surprises here but, thanks to 3D and a creative tech team, the giants are surprisingly lifelike and pretty terrifying. With some gross-out humor and freaky imagery, older tweens are likely to find this fantasy flick fee-fi-fo-fun!

Tweens (10-12)
Maybe Filled with death and destruction, the movie is too dark and intense for younger kids in this age group. The human-eating giants casually treat people like finger food, popping them in their mouths, and preparing them like--literally--pigs in blankets. Older tweens will have a good time "ewww"-ing over a giant picking his nose, and getting an up close and personal look inside his mouth, eyes and nostrils in 3D.
