Life Lessons | Musical
A small town church choir tries to win a national competition but its new director, (Queen Latifah), is not at all in harmony with the ideas of the group's very vocal lead singer, (Dolly Parton).
Glee has some uplifting moments--especially during musical numbers like "Man in the Mirror" and "Maybe I'm Amazed"--but its random sub-plots too often hit a sour note. Despite its frequent references to God, the film could use a little more soul. And with a running time of two hours, younger viewers may simply find themselves praying for the movie to finally end.

Fans of Glee will enjoy the rousing renditions of songs by artists like Chris Brown and Sly and the Family Stone, but younger children are likely to be bored by the myriad sub-plots including the trevails of Vi Rose, who has a son with Asperger's Syndrome and a military husband who has been deployed abroad.
Tweens will be intrigued by G.G.'s rebellious grandson (Jeremy Jordan) and Vi Rose's sassy daughter (Keke Palmer), and won't be surprised to see a romance develop between them. They'll find it funny to watch Vi Rose and G.G. fight it out in a restaurant, and will probably roll their eyes at the lyrics to certain songs.
