Indie music fan Beca (Anna Kendrick) enters college and finds herself an unlikely member of The Bellas, an old-school female a cappella group.
This big-screen version of Gleeis absolutely hilarious but, because it's set in a college atmosphere rather than high school, it's filled with suggestiveness, strong language, and drug references, making it more appropriate for a teen/older tween audience. There are a lot of mean girl--and boy--moments, but the messages about teamwork and keeping an open mind are important, and the movie is ultimately empowering. Plus, you can dance to it!

Tweens will love the music and the attitude, and won't be able to keep from smiling through the whole movie. They'll find it reassuring to see that every member of the group has something to contribute, and they'll adore the self-named Fat Amy, who exudes confidence, no matter what anyone says about her. Unfortunately, there are many scenes that are iffy for younger viewers, including Beca being gifted with a "rape whistle" as a welcome to college. As the leader of the Bellas would say, "A ca-awkward."
The combo pack comes with Blu-ray, DVD, and digital versions of the movie. UltraViolet lets viewers stream and download it to tablets, smartphones, computers and TVs. The DVD includes deleted, alternate and extended scenes, a music video, profiles and interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and "Line-O-Rama," a segment of funny one-liners. The Blu-ray adds extra "Line-O'Ramas."
