Strawberry pulls out her scrapbook and shares two memories of her dancing experiences, both of which focus on friends and the importance of being who you really are.
Although Strawberry Shortcake is best known for stories that are as sweet as her name, what little girls may find most exciting about this DVD is the cool dance mat that comes with it! They'll learn the moves of the "Strawberry Shake" in the Dance-Along bonus feature and follow Strawberry’s advice to "just feel the music–and move!" This may become preschoolers' berry favorite Strawberry Shortcake DVD yet!
Although babies won't have had to worry about the honesty issues the stories deal with, they'll immediately want to be part of this pastel-colored world filled with characters with names like Strawberry Shortcake, Angel Cake, Ginger Snap, and Orange Blossom! Two-year-olds will grab that dance mat and create some moves of their own!
Preschoolers will be fascinated by the first story, in which the greedy Purple Pie Man makes his sister, Sour Grapes, open a phony dance studio to distract Strawberry and her friends while he steals all their newly harvested berries. Young viewers will learn the value of hard work when they see that Sour Grapes is so impressed with the extra effort the girls (and boy pal, Huckleberry Pie) put in, that she changes her tune and decides to help them outwit her brother.
Strawberry Shortcake is a little too sugary sweet for most kids in this age group, but those on the younger end may learn some important lessons from the second story. Strawberry's new friend Apricot wants so badly to impress the girls that she makes up stories about living in a castle and being a great ice dancer. Kids will realize that eventually your lies catch up with you and that true friends honor the word "true."
