Life Lessons | Comedy
An unlikely friendship develops between school bully Lee Carter (Will Poulter) and religious fundamentalist Will Proudfoot (Bill Milner) as they film their own version of Sylvester Stallone’s First Blood in 1980s' England.
This wildly inventive coming-of-age story captures the joy and angst of childhood spot-on. A love letter to movies and the way they can shape our lives, this is the kind of tale that will probably appeal more to parents--who are likely to feel a strong sense of nostalgia--than kids, who won't realize how wondrous these years are until they're over. Tweens may get such a kick out of the boys' tribute to Rambo, it just might spark a whole new YouTube category filled with entries inspired by this movie.

Younger kids may be put off by the British accents and some of the eccentric characters, particularly a flamboyant French exchange student who kisses his way through a line of girls. Older tweens, though, may be fascinated by the vastly different backgrounds of the boys and the fact that they become blood brothers despite them. They'll understand how Will, forbidden to watch TV or movies, becomes obsessed with the new world Lee introduces him to, and they'll respect the abandon with which he throws himself into his art.
