Once your baby has been eating a few basic vegetable pureés, you can start introducing fruit ones. As with veggie pureés, stick with one pureé for four days before moving on to something new. Here are a few simple, sweet baby fruit pureés to get you started.
4 -5 large apples ( for Applesauce Pureé )
1 banana (for Banana Pureé)
Breast milk or formula (for Banana Pureé)
6 medium-size peaches (for Peach Pureé)
6-8 plums (for Plum Pureé)
6-8 apricots (for Apricot Pureé)
Food processor fitted with a metal blade
Steamer basket
Applesauce
1. Wash four or five large apples. Then peel, core and slice each in half.
2. Cook the apples in a steamer basket over boiling water for about 15 minutes, using a tight-fitting lid until the apples are soft all the way through. Let them cool.
3. Pureé the apples in a food processor until smooth. Add some of the leftover steamer water until you reach the desired consistency.
(Pear pureé can be made following these same steps.)
