Children love to watch birds, and they get a kick out of feeding them. This easy craft provides the best of both worlds! And the entire family can participate in it's creation. Keep a pair of binoculars handy for discreet observation.

What You Need
2-liter plastic bottle (and its cap)
Drill with 5/16" drill bit (or a utility knife)
Wire for hanging
2 eight-inch dowels
Birdseed

What You Do

Step 1
Wash the plastic bottle well and remove the label. Drill two holes in the bottom using a 5/16" drill bit. If you don't have a drill, use a sharp knife. (Parents will want to do this part.) Feed a piece of wire through the holes and tie it into a loop.

Step 2
To create perches, drill or cut a hole 2 to 3 inches from the top of the bottle and drill or cut another at the same height opposite the first. Drill or cut another pair of holes the same way 3 to 4 inches from the bottom of the bottle. Thread a wooden dowel through each pair of holes.

Step 3
Drill or cut a hole about 2 inches above each perch. Fill the bottle with birdseed and replace the cap.

Step 4
Use the wire loop to hang the feeder from a branch or other place where you and your child can observe the birds feasting.
