Cold Lamination
Purchase sticky, cold lamination sheets from your local office-supplies store.
Place printed card pages between sheets and follow the instructions to seal and laminate the pages, being certain to work out any air bubbles that will prevent the laminate from sticking to the cards.
Hot Lamination
If cold lamination sheets are not available, try this technique.
Sandwich each page of game cards between two sheets of wax paper. The shiny, waxy side should be placed against the card surface.
Heat the iron to a medium setting.
Place the wax-paper-covered card pages on an ironing board, lay the towel on top of the sheets, then begin to iron the sheets using a circular motion, making sure you iron all the way to the edges.
The heat from the iron should seal the edges of the wax paper together.
When all edges are sealed, remove the laminated card sheets and place them aside to cool.
Lamination will give cards a longer play life.
Cut
Cut the game cards apart, trimming any excess laminate paper from around each card.
When all the cards are cut out, you are ready to play.
SPORTS SHUFFLE
To play the game, place the deck of cards face down on a table or flat surface.
Have kids sit in a circle.
Working clockwise around the circle, have kids take turns choosing a card. When a child chooses a card, help her read the name of the character and the move described on the card.
The child must then create a move based on the character and the words on the card.
Keep working around the circle, letting kids choose cards and make their moves: but beware of the Robbie Rotten card. If this card is drawn, kids will suffer a sugar meltdown, and they have to sit down and wait for another turn.
If you reach the end of the cards before all kids have had a chance to play, collect all the cards, shuffle, and start again!
