To decorate these cupcakes, you'll need our template, blue candy melting wafers, black tube frosting, and oil-based food coloring. These are available at baking-supply stores. You'll also need a small artist's paintbrush, available at art-supply stores.
Watch Blue's Clues every day on Nick Jr.
Line a cookie sheet with wax paper and place Blue's Clues Cupcakes Template under the wax paper.
Melt all but 1/4 cup of the blue candy wafers in a medium glass bowl in the microwave until smooth, about one to two minutes, stirring frequently. Spoon the melted candy into a resealable bag. Snip a small corner from the bag, pipe the outline, and fill in with blue candy. Repeat to make 12. Place in the refrigerator for about five minutes or until the candy has set.
Heat the remaining wafers until smooth. Add food coloring to tint the melted candy wafers a darker shade of blue. Using a small clean paintbrush, paint dark-blue candy spots on Blue's face. Tint the remaining blue candy even darker and paint Blue's nose. Refrigerate until the candy has set.
Spoon 1/4 cup of the vanilla frosting into a resealable bag and snip off a small corner. Pipe eyes and the dots on Blue's nose. Pipe pupils with the black frosting tube.
Frost the tops of the cupcakes with the vanilla frosting. Place the sprinkles on a plate and roll the edge of each cupcake to coat.
Peel the candy faces from the wax paper and carefully place them on top of each cupcake.
Cut tongues freehand from the fruit leather and attach near Blue's mouth using a dab of vanilla frosting. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
