Blue's Paw-Print Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 large egg
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 2 tsp. baking powder
• 3 cups flour
• 1 tube blue frosting (available at party-supply stores)
• Toothpicks

Directions

1. Step 1

   Preheat the oven to 400°F. Print and cut out Blue's Paw-Print Cookie Template.

2. Step 2

   To make the dough, blend the butter and sugar with an electric mixer in a mixing bowl. Mix in the egg and vanilla, then add the baking powder. Add the flour one cup at a time until the dough is very stiff.

3. Step 3

   Divide the dough into two balls and roll the balls out into 1/8-inch-thick circles on a floured surface.

4. Step 4

   Use a toothpick to trace the paw print template onto the dough. Remove the excess dough and transfer the paw shape to an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 6 to 7 minutes or until the cookies are lightly browned.

5. Step 5

   When the cookies are cool, squeeze out with the blue frosting a large circle on the base of the paw and smaller dots on the "toes" of each paw. Smooth the frosting with your fingertips.
