Prep Time: 20 min.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices whole wheat bread
  • 2 slices bologna
  • 2 large radishes
  • 1 slice tomato, from a plum tomato
  • 1 black olive
  • 2 tsp. mayonnaise or mustard
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 "s" shaped cookie (Stella Doro breakfast treat)
  • 2 tbsp. confectionary sugar
  • Purple food coloring

Supplies

  • Boots "Open Face" Sandwich Template

Directions

  1. Step 1

Print out the template. Using a small knife, cut out Boots' head and face from the whole wheat bread slices and the bologna.

  2. Step 2

Cut one radish crosswise into thin rounds for the eyes. Cut two slices from either side of the other radish for the red ears.

  3. Step 3

For Boots' mouth, trim the tomato slice into a triangle shape. Cut the black olives into two small circles for the eyes and two small pieces for the nostrils.

  4. Step 4

Spread the mayonnaise or mustard on the lower half of the bread. Arrange the bread slices together on a plate to make Boots' face. Add the bologna to the lower half. Arrange the radish and olive eyes and nostrils, radish ears, and tomato mouth to the sandwich.

  5. For Boots' Red Boots

Cut the red pepper in half lengthwise. Use the template to cut out the boot shapes. Arrange the peppers on the bottom of the sandwich (use the photo as a guide).

  6. For Boots' Tail

Combine the powdered sugar with a few drops of water to make a thick glaze. Tint the glaze a light purple. Spread the glaze on top of the cookie. Let cookie set until glaze is firm, about 15 minutes. Using the photo as a guide, add the finished tail.

Tip: Save the leftover red pepper scraps for another use.
