Follow these steps to assemble Diego's lion bento box:
Spread the rice in the bottom of a small tray or container. Arrange the broccoli and green beans over the top, stem side down for the broccoli.
Cut the hard-boiled egg in half, crosswise. Trim a thin slice of the white end of the egg for the eyes.
Cut the cheese into 4 main shapes using flower and round-shaped cookie cutters. Cut 4 small circles with the egg white slice to make the eyes. Cut very small rounds from the black olive to make the pupils. Place on top of the egg whites. Cut two half inch triangles for the lion's nose.
Arrange 2 cheese slices, overlapping slightly for the mane on top of the egg slice. Add the eyes, nose and 2 small sprigs of dill for the whiskers. Add the 2 lion eggs to the tray.
Follow these steps to assemble Diego's hippo bento box:
Spread the rice in the bottom of a small tray or container. Arrange the lettuces, curly leaf side up around the tray.
Cut the carrot slices into small flower shapes using a small cookie cutter, cookie cutter template or paring knife.
Place 2 salami slices together on a cutting board. Cut out the hippo head shape with a small knife. Cut out the ears from the scraps. Repeat with the remaining salami.
Cut 4 small circles with the cheese slice to make the eyes.Cut very small rounds from the black olive to make the pupils and place on top of the cheese. Add the eyes and the ears to the salami head. Arrange the pieces on top of the lettuce and rice. Add the carrot flowers and tomatoes.
